The origins are the <a href=\"https:\/\/agilemanifesto.org\/\">Agile Manifesto issued in 2001<\/a> by a team of passionate IT professionals seeking a way to work that reflected their technology-driven environment in ways traditional (or \u201cPMP\u201d style) project management was failing to do. As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apm.org.uk\/resources\/find-a-resource\/agile-project-management\/\">Association for Project Management<\/a> shares:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>\u201cOne of the aims of an agile or iterative approach is to release benefits throughout the process rather than only at the end. At the core, agile projects should exhibit central values and behaviours of trust, flexibility, empowerment and collaboration.\u201d<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is not a single \u201cAgile\u201d project management, just as there is not a single Agile PMP certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PMI, as the global leader in managing project manager certifications, offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.org\/-\/media\/pmi\/documents\/public\/pdf\/certifications\/certification_framework_watermark_final.pdf?v=e1bbbd13-a8d9-4555-b9ff-092a486f4f28\">multiple agile-based certification choices,<\/a> including PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.org\/certifications\/agile-acp\">PMI-ACP<\/a>)\u00ae, plus Disciplined Agile Scrum Master, Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master, Disciplined Agile Value Stream Consultant, and Disciplined Agile Coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is important to learn is the Agile is part of project management, and there are different methodologies for Agile and multiple Agile certifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"agile-pmp-exam\">Agile in the PMP certification exam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>PMI updated the PMP\u00ae certification exam in 2021 to reflect the overall international profession of Project Management, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.org\/certifications\/project-management-pmp\">including the use of multiple approaches<\/a>. With that PMP\u00ae certification update, exam questions now test a project manager\u2019s knowledge of Predictive&nbsp;(traditional or waterfall), Agile, and Hybrid approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Agile being one of three approaches touched upon in the exam, there could be questions that assess knowledge of terms such as Scrum Master, Scaled Agile, Six Sigma, Lean, or Disciplined Agile. When considering what training to use for PMP\u00ae certification prep, be sure to leverage the free <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.org\/-\/media\/pmi\/documents\/public\/pdf\/certifications\/project-management-professional-exam-outline.pdf\">PMI \u201cPMP Exam Content Outline<\/a>\u201d for the most updated insights on PMI\u2019s certification exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-much-agile\">How much Agile is in the PMP exam?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparing for the agile components within the PMP\u00ae certification is not the same as preparing for the PMP-ACP\u00ae certification. &nbsp;While the PMI-ACP\u00ae exam is solely focused on testing a student\u2019s knowledge of Agile techniques and practices, the PMP exam consists of 50% Predictive focused questions and 50% Agile\/Hybrid focused questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.org\/learning\/training-development\/authorized-training-partners\/find\">PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP)<\/a> should provide sample test questions and opportunities to simulate full exams. There is no \u201cAgile PMP vs traditional PMP\u201d certification.
