CCBA Certification Requirements

Before you begin the process of getting CCBA certified, you should read the IIBA Core BA Certification Handbook and visit the IIBA.org website for additional information.

CCBA Application Process

• Register to become a member of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
  • This step is optional.
  • It costs $125 to become a member.
  • To learn more about membership benefits please visit IIBA.org.
• Take our CCBA Certification Preparation Course to satisfy the required 21 Professional Development Hours (PD Hours).
• Log your experience and hours in the IIBA Portal and pay the application fee.
  • In order to fill out your application, work history and PD Hours must be recorded in your account (list these in the My Work History and MY PD Hours sections under the Certification tab).
  • Hours can be logged prior to or after paying the application fee.
  • Pay the application fee of $125.
• Complete and submit your application.
  • After submitting your application you will receive an email notifying you if your application is approved or approved pending audit.
  • Once your application is approved you will receive an invitation to pay for and schedule the exam.
• Schedule your exam with PSI Exams.
  • IIBA members pay $325 for the exam fee, $450 for non-members.
  • You have 1 year to take the exam after your application has been approved.
  • You may take the exam up to three (3) times during the eligibility period.

• Take and pass the CCBA Exam.
  • You have 1 year to take the exam after your application has been approved.
  • The CCBA Exam has a total of 130 multiple-choice questions.
  • 3 hour time limit.
  • The moment you pass the exam you are certified for a 3-year cycle.
  • Every 3-year cycle, you must report 60 Continuing Development Units (CDUs) to renew your certification.

CCBA Eligibility Requirements

Business Analysis Experience

• 3,750 hours of business analysis work experience
  • These hours must be earned within the last 7 years
  • Within this experience, a minimum of 900 hours completed in at least 2 of the 6 core BABOK® Guide Knowledge Areas
    - OR -
    Within this experience, a minimum of 500 hours completed in at least 4 of the 6 core BABOK® Guide Knowledge areas

Training in Business Analysis

• 21 Professional Development Hours (PD Hours)
  • Must be completed in the last 4 years
  • Our course provides 35 PD hours

Additional Requirements

• Provide two references
• Agree to Code of Conduct
• Agree to Terms and Conditions
• Pass the exam
